The industrial landscape in Libya is heavily dominated by oil, gas, and petrochemical processing. The extreme ambient temperatures of the Sahara, combined with high-salinity coastal air, create a dual challenge: rapid oxidation and thermal fatigue. Consequently, there is a critical demand for cast heat resistant steel that can maintain mechanical properties under constant heat stress.
Currently, many local facilities rely on imported components. However, the lack of specialized local ar400 steel heat treatment capabilities often leads to premature wear in heavy-duty earthmoving and mining equipment used in the region's infrastructure projects.
The reliance on heat resistant cast iron remains high for furnace linings and valve bodies, but there is a shifting trend toward more sophisticated alloys that offer better creep resistance and a longer service life in the high-temperature zones of Libyan refineries.
